DNV GL’s Tor Svensen moved aside

Oslo: The reorganization at DNV GL continues in the run up to Remi Eriksen taking over the class society as president and ceo on August 1. Tor Svensen has been moved from his role as ceo of the group’s maritime division to take on an executive vice president role.

His place has been taken by Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen who has since 2013 served as COO and senior vice president of DNV GL’s maritime business area.

Svensen has been the CEO and president of DNV GL – Maritime since 2003, becoming one of the best known faces in the organisation.

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
