Vard becomes a shipowner, DOF charters Vard PSV for work in Australia

Vard has become a shipowner through the foundation of a new subsidiary, Vard Shipholding Singapore, which will own a platform supply vessel (PSV) that has just been fixed on a bareboat charter.

Earlier today, it was announced that Singapore-based DOF Management, part of Oslo-listed DOF ASA, has chartered in Vard’s PSV Skandi Responder on a four-month contract.

The Skandi Responder is one of two vessels whose constructions contracts with Vard were terminated in March by two single-ship companies connected with Germany’s ER Offshore.

The PSV will be employed with Chevron in Australia for the contract, which will commence in October and includes an optional four-month extension period.

DOF said today the vessel was chartered in from Vard because DOF currently does not have any other PSVs available.

The second PSV is still under construction at Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam and is expected to be completed next year.
