DOF sells Skandi Protector to Oz

Norway’s DOF Subsea has sold construction support vessel  Skandi Protector to the Australian government, the second vessel the company has sold to Australian authorities.

DOF said that delivery of the 2007-built vessel is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016. The ship served under contract with Australian authorities from 2010 through to the end of 2014, and has since operated as a subsea project vessel in the Asia Pacific region.

Mons S. Aase, CEO of DOF, commented: “DOF has for many years appreciated its very good working relationship with the Australian authorities, and this is the second vessel which has been sold to the Commonwealth of Australia. After delivery of Skandi Protector to the new owners, DOF Subsea will allocate another subsea project vessel to the Asia Pacific region in order to operate under existing and new contracts.”

The sale will release around NOK 300m ($34.4m) in liquidity after repayment of debt.
