Doha port capacity rises

Doha: Throughput capacity at Qatar’s top box port has risen by 50% following a series of infrastructure improvements. Doha Port can now handle 750,000 teu a year. Last week a new services complex was also opened up to speed up customs clearance from 48 hours to just two hours.

Plans are now in place to further develop the port so that it can handle 1m teu. On top of that a brand new port, to the south of the capital, is set to be built in the coming years at a cost of $7.4bn.  [28/04/14]
