Dong A Tanker sells two brand-new MRs

South Korea’s Dong A Tanker has sold two of its newly delivered MR product tankers to Greek buyers for $69.6m in total, which includes the ships’ respective timecharter contracts.

Brokers told Splash today that the buyer is likely to be Vardinoyannis-controlled Avin International. Splash has contacted the owner for comment.

The 50,000-dwt Dong A Krios and Dong A Triton were delivered this year from Hyundai Mipo in South Korea and were sold for $34.8m each. The vessels both have epoxy-lined cargo tanks.

Both tankers have been timechartered to an unnamed counterparty for five years at $15,500 per day, plus an option for a one-year extension period at $16,000 daily and a further year at $16,500 per day.
