DP World invited to Bangladesh
Dubai: The prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, yesterday invited Dubai port operator, DP World, to conduct a feasibility study on constructing a deepsea port at Paira in Patuakhali.
During a meeting with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of the DP World, Hasina also requested him to carry out a feasibility study on a special economic zone in Chittagong.
Bangladesh is seeking transport upgrades as both its neighbours in the Bay of Bengal – India and Myanmar – are receiving millions of dollars in new port upgrades. [27/10/14]
