Dry bulk recovery coming in Q4: Hashim

Bangkok: Khalid Hashim, managing director of Thailand’s Precious Shipping, reckons dry bulk’s recovery is set for the final quarter of this year, and the bottom of the next cycle could be about five years away. Speaking with our sister site, Maritime CEO, today, Hashim said: “Depending on how silly shipowners get during this recovery, they will do their best to ensure that the recovery is short lived by ordering lots of ships which will start to deluge the market in 2017 to 2018.”

The bottom of the next cycle could be in 2019/2020, Hashim reckoned.

Hashim also outlined Precious’s fleet rejuvenation programme. The full interview can be accessed here.  [25/07/14]
