Drydocks World chairman outlines energy focus

Dubai: Drydocks World (DDW), Dubai’s leading shipyard group, will increasingly focus on energy-related construction, its chairman has told our sister site, Maritime CEO.

Khamis Juma Buamim said: “Deepwater exploration and the increased requirements for specialized vessels  – be it offshore exploration, production, accommodation rigs or offshore support vessels – has been our target for future business.”
After a period of restructuring following financial difficulties DDW is now back looking at growing its global footprint, but Buamim was cautious on expansion plans.

“We don’t believe that expansion through acquisition adds anything of real value, however we do believe that we can offer our extensive experience to partner with other companies to manage and operate their facilities for them in the region and globally,’ he said.
