Drydocks World to build world’s largest jack-up rig

Dubai: A month ago Drydocks World trumpeted the signing of a letter of intent with Offshore Innovation Management to construct the world’s largest jack-up rig. This week the yard has surpassed that feat, signing with Drill One Capital to build a Gusto MSC CJ 80 jack-up for what will now become the largest rig ever built. The rig, to be called Dubai Expo NS, will be deployed in the North Sea.

“Today we have entered into the next stage of technology and design by building a green rig which take the oil industry to a new level. It is a demonstration of DDW capability to build world first mega projects as we demonstrated in previous projects such as the Shell Prelude FLNG turret, Solan storage tank and DolWin beta, and now building this global first and largest rig,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World.  [14/01/14]
