Dynacom takes NYK VLCC

Greek owner George Procopiou’s Dynacom Tankers has acquired the 2005-built VLCC Takasaki from Japanese owner NYK.

According to Clarksons report, the Japanese-built crude tanker was sold for a price of $37.3m, lower than MSI’s valuation of $39.7m and VesselsValue’s valuation of $38.18m.

Clarkson said the deal is a further evidence of a firming market.

Dynacom has been actively expanding its fleet recently, having acquired another Japanese VLCC Yugawasan from NS United Kaiun earlier this month and a pair of resale VLCCs from DSIC in March.

Dynacom currently operates a fleet of 61 tankers and has another six on order.
