E.ON signs Qatargas deal

Doha: Qatargas and Germany’s E.ON have signed a buy-and-sell agreement that lasts for five years, valid from January, 2014. Qatargas will under this agreement supply about 1.5m tons of LNG per year. These amounts of LNG will be supplied from Qatar Train No.4, which is a joint venture with Shell. The LNG shipments will be delivered from Qatar on Q-Max vessels, to a receiving terminal in Rotterdam.

The move is a significant switch for Germany which has become too beholden to Russia’s LNG as a source for much of its energy in recent years.  [10/10/13]
