Eagle Bulk opts for more scrubbers

US dry bulk owner Eagle Bulk Shipping has exercised options to purchase 15 additional scrubbers, giving it a total of 34 vessels committed to scrubbers out of its fleet of 47 bulkers.

Eagle Bulk plans to complete installation on the 34 vessels before January 1, 2020. The company has developed a scrubber installation program which will see much of the retrofit work carried out onboard the vessels while at sea to reducing off-hire time compared with a typical installation.

Having ordered up to 37 scrubbers in September, 19 firm and 18 optional, Eagle Bulk still holds additional options for three more scrubbers.
