Eastern Pacific grabs Japanese cape resale

Eastern Pacific continues to build its capesize fleet, brokers report. The Idan Ofer-led company is linked to the purchase of Japanese resale. The Singapore-headquartered outfit is said to have taken the Imabari-built Aquacaro for $32.6m from an unspecified Japanese owner.

The purchase is the second 180,000 dwt cape the shipping giant has snapped up this year. In mid-January it paid $35m for the Megalodon from Star Bulk Carriers. Last year it added two capes in the secondhand market.
