Eastern Pacific snaps up NYK boxship

Idan Ofer’s Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping has snapped up 2008-built 6,661 teu boxship NYK Themis from Japan’s NYK Line.

Eastern Pacific revealed the acquisition on social media channels, having just taken delivery of the 80,226 dwt vessel in Singapore with CEO Cyril Ducau in attendance. The value of the transaction was not revealed.

According to VesselsValue, the ship becomes the 32nd containership in the Eastern Pacific fleet out of a total of 95 vessels.

NYK Themis was in the news in 2014 when it was involved in a collision with a barge off Singapore, with damage to the ship leading to a bunker fuel spill.
