Greater China

From the editor’s chair to seat 37C, destination Hong Kong

I’ve been a tad distracted from the normal hustle bustle of daily shipping news reporting the past 10 days or so as here at Splash Towers we’ve been furiously editing a brace of magazines that will be distributed worldwide as well as across the 40-odd events taking place at Hong Kong Maritime Industry Week which kicks off on Monday.

If you have not had the chance I do urge you to head over our Magazines section of the site when you have spare moment. Our Hong Kong special shows a resurgent mood among the city’s shipping elite interviewed for the magazine. Obviously, this is not from a freight rate point of view, but looking at how the territory is rising up the ranks again on the international maritime map after too many years of hubris. The thoughts of more than 20 local shipowners are included in the magazine.

Then there’s our just published latest issue of Maritime CEO which also features a highly eclectic selection of shipowners profiled. And for those heading to Hong Kong early we’ve included a valuable little guide to Macau, which could make for a fun side trip in the coming days.

Time to pack my bags …
