Cairo: A delegation from Qatargas has visited the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) in Cairo to discuss exporting up to 1bn cu ft of gas for Egypt’s electricity sector.

With the Egyptian economy growing Oil Minister Osama Kamal said last year that local industriesy will be allowed to import gas for the first time in the second half of 2013. With 77bn cu ft of natural gas reserves Egypt has traditionally been one of the region’s largest exporters, but with an energy crunch at home, the government has moved to restrict exports recently.  [08/04/13]
