Egypt reduces gas exports to meet domestic demand

Cairo: The chairman of Egyptian General Petroleum Authority Tariq Al Bartaqawi said that Egypt will reduce natural gas exports and is calling on major industries to curb the pace of production in the summer months to avoid an energy crisis and political disturbances.

Barqatawi added that Egypt is depending on Qatar, the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), to provide additional quantities during the summer, while factories are being encouraged to schedule annual maintenance work in the coming months of top demand.  [30/05/13]
