Eidesvik Offshore sells cable installation vessel

Oslo-listed Eidesvik Offshore has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to sell its multipurpose offshore vessel European Supporter (7,000 dwt, built 1996) to a unnamed buyer.

No price was revealed for the vessel, but Eidesvik said it will record a gain on the sale of around NOK 100m ($12.4m) in its fourth-quarter financial results 2015. The vessel has no debt attached to it.

The 106-metre-long ship (pictured) is a multi-purpose DP2 cable installation vessel, operated by P&O Maritime. The vessel is able to undertake a variety of installation, handling, burial and cable protection operations.

Delivery of the vessel will take place in October, Eidesvik said.

Last month, the company signed an MoA for the sale of its seismic survey vessel Viking II (4,410 dwt, built 1999).
