Norwegian offshore survey specialist Electromagnetic Geoservices has been awarded a contract extension for 3D EM data acquisition work it is conducting for an unnamed oil company in Malaysia.
The initial contract announced in August was worth around $4.2m, however the sizeable extension is worth close to $7m.
The first acquisition, utilising the BOA Thalassa off East Malaysia, was completed on October 9. The extension will utilise the same vessel and is scheduled to commence today and take around one and a half months.
“We are very pleased to announce this letter of award with a repeat customer in Malaysia. It is also important to us that it is a two-year agreement, with expectations for more work next year,” commented Bjarte Bruheim, CEO of EMGS, when the initial contract was awarded.
