Empire Bulkers pays $8m for panamax

One of 2016’s busiest bulk sellers has sold a ship to one of the year’s busier buyers. Empire Bulkers of Greece has paid $8m for a panamax bulker controlled by Japan’s Nissen Kaiun. The Imabari-built, 11-year-old 76,596 dwt Red Jasmine was inspected by a number of owners before Empire won the rights to it.

Empire Bulkers was formed in March 2013 through a spin off from Empire Navigation. Last year it came in for four ships – a mix of sizes from handy through to kamsarmax.
