Ensco scraps three rigs

Offshore driller Ensco has sold three drilling rigs for scrap as part of its ongoing effort to optimise its fleet according to the company’s latest fleet status report.

The three rigs are 1979-built jackup pair, Ensco 81 and Ensco 81, and 2000-built semi-submersible rig Ensco 7500.

Following the sales, Ensco’s fleet will have 59 rigs while it also has two drillships under construction at South Korean yard DSME and a jack uprig under construction at Singapore’s Keppel FELS.

Additionally, Ensco reported that the company’s drilling rigs Ensco 8503 and Ensco 8505 have secured new contracts in the US Gulf of Mexico.
