ER Schiffahrt to manage two NYK Newcastlemaxes

ER Schiffahrt is to manage two Newcastlemax bulk carriers for Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), which will include crewing and technical operations.

Management of  Dawn Horizon (210,000 dwt, built 2013) was handed over to the Hamburg-based shipmanagement company on July 30, and the second 210,000-dwt vessel will follow in September.

NYK signed the management contract with ER Schiffahrt at a ceremony in the German Embassy in Tokyo today.

“The mandate from NYK confirms the strength of our performance and our competitive position, and it represents a major vote of confidence,” Nils Aden, CEO of ER Schiffahrt, said in a release.

The contract also includes management of safety, environmental protection and energy efficiency measures onboard the vessels, the company said.
