Essar Shipping appoints Anoop Sharma as managing director

Mumbai-based Essar Shipping has announced that it has appointed Captain Anoop Sharma as the managing director of the company, effective 1st November 2015.

Sharma joined Essar in 2008, and he was appointed as ceo & wholetime director of Essar Shipping in April this year, following the retirement of managing director A R Ramakrishnan.

“I would like to thank the Board for reposing their confidence and entrusting me the responsibility to further spearhead the shipping  business of the company. I look forward in working with a holistic approach for the business to sail through these challenging times in the maritime industry,” Sharma said.

Essar Shipping currently operates a diversified fleet of 26 vessels, including VLCCs, capesize, mini-capesize, supramaxes, mini-bulk carriers and tugs.
