Eukor car carrier nabbed by Libyan militants

Images carried on Libyan media and above show the moment the Eukor car carrier Morning Compass was seized by militants off Ras Al-Hilal on Friday.

The armed men are fighting for Khalifa Haftar, a local warlord who has carved out a stronghold in the east of the civil war torn nation.

The ship, which had just delivered around 5,000 Hyundai and Kia cars from South Korea to Egypt, is crewed by Filipinos.

The Libya Observer reports that the local militia had repeatedly warned the car carrier that it had entered no-go military waters.
