Euronav sells oldest VLCC

Belgian owner Euronav has sold 2005-built 305,261 dwt VLCC VK Eddie, the oldest VLCC in its fleet.

VK Eddie was the oldest VLCC in Euronav’s fleet, and the company will record a capital gain of $14.4m on the sale.

The vessel has been delivered to the new owners, who are converting the vessel into an FPSO.

“Euronav considers regular fleet rejuvenation an important function of vessel management in providing quality services to its clients,” the company said.

Euronav said it will record a capital gain of $14.4m on the sale. Its VLCC fleet now stands at 42 vessels, with an average age of 6.7 years.
