Evergreen confirms boxship quartet at Jiangnan Shipyard

Taiwanese shipping line Evergreen has signed shipbuilding contracts with CSSC-affiliated Jiangnan Shipyard for the construction of four 2,500 teu containerships.

The contract marks Evergreen’s first ever newbuilding order at a Chinese mainland shipyard.

The vessels will be classified by Class NK and will be fitted with scrubbers, and are expected to be delivered in 2020.

In August, Evergreen put out tender to take 36 boxships on long-term charter including fourteen 2,500 teu ships and twenty-four 1,800 teu vessels.

Evergreen currently has a total of 22 newbuildings on order.
