Taipei: Evergreen Line has confirmed at yesterday’s board meeting that it will order ten 2,800teu boxships as part of its fleet optimisation plan.

Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding and compatriot shipyard CSBC will each get orders for five 2,800teu vessels.

The vessels will be used for the coastal market in Asia after delivery starts in the second half of 2017.

According to Alphaliner, Evergreen is Asia’s largest containerline and the fifth largest in the world with a fleet comprising 953,114 slots.
