Evergreen orders another 10 small boxships

Taiwan-based container line Evergreen Marine has ordered 10 more 2,800-teu containerships for $36m-39m per vessel or up to $390m in total.

Five of the vessels will be built at Japan’s Imabari shipyard, and another five at CSBC Corp in Taiwan, according to exchange filings today. The vessels’ delivery dates were not disclosed.

The order follows the ten 2,800-teu vessels Evergreen ordered in early July from Imabari and CSBC in Taiwan.

In September, Evergreen ordered ten more 2,800-teu containerships from Imabari, for delivery over a 12-month period from the first half of 2018.
