Fafalios adds modern supramax

Greek owner Fafalios Shipping has reportedly added its first ship of the year, a significant move for the supramax and panamax player, who currently has a fleet of four ships with an average age of 14 years.

Now brokers say the Piraeus based bulker owner has added its third supramax, the 2011-built 61,654 Nord Crest, its first ship built after 2010. The specific number $19.65m is tagged to the deal, a very firm price if one compares it with the price tag Maritime Strategies International (MSI) has for this vessel.

The deal comes a month after Fafalios sold another bulker which has been in its fleet for the past 17 years. In early August, Fafalios Shipping disposed of the vintage panamax bulker Alkyon in what appears to be part of a fleet-renewal for $9.7m.
