Familiar name appointed to oversee Hansa Heavy Lift insolvency
Hamburg District Court has appointed the experienced local restructuring expert, lawyer and tax consultant Dr Christoph Morgen as preliminary insolvency administrator to take care of Hansa Heavy Lift. Morgen is a specialist insolvency solicitor and partner in the law firm Brinkmann & Partner. He is well known in local shipping circles, having recently served as chief insolvency officer at Rickmers Holding.
Hansa Heavy, the successor to Beluga Shipping, filed for insolvency on Monday. Backed by US private equity firm Oaktree, Hansa Heavy’s demise had been on the cards for months. One of its five ships was arrested in France recently.
