Famous name in Hamburg shipping rebranded into the V.Ships fold

A venerable name in Hamburg shipping circles, Norddeutsche Reederei H. Schuldt GmbH & Co. KG (NRS), has been rebranded this week to V. Ships (Hamburg) GmbH & Co. KG.

V.Group took a majority stake in the shipping company 13 months ago, taking over the management arm while the vessels owned were transferred to a new structure.

The containership operator has a 150-year history and is yet another grand name in Hamburg shipping to disappear in what has been a very tough decade for the local shipowning sector. Shipping database Equasis lists Norddeutsche Reederei as having 44 boxships and one bulk carrier on its books.
