Farstad sells PSV at a $0.9m loss

Farstad Supply has sold its platform supply vessel (PSV)  Far Scandia to an unnamed buyer, which took delivery of the vessel today.

Parent company Farstad Shipping did not reveal the sale price today, but said the25-year-old PSV was sold at an NOK8m loss ($0.91m) on its book value.

The vessel, which is built to an Ulstein UT 705 design, has been in lay up since October 2015.

Farstad’s CEO Karl Johan Bakken told Norway’s Sunnmørsposten that the company must accept the book loss in the current depressed market, and that the sale was part of Farstad’s aim to sell off its older vessels.

Last year, Farstad sold its PSV Far Superior (built 1990) and its anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels  Lady Guro (built 2001) and Far Sky (built 1991).
