Filipino officer dies from fall in Japan

The third officer of the small Japanese general cargo vessel, Asian Infinity (6,832 dwt; built 2010), fell to his death late on Wednesday night.

The Filipino seafarer was checking holds after the ship had finished offloading at Soma port on the west coast of Japan when the accident happened at 2240 hrs. He was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries and was declared dead two hours later.

The registered operator of the Panama-flagged ship according to Equasis is Unitra Maritime.
