Finbeta puts chemical tanker up for sale as debt restructuring completed

After four years of negotiations Finbeta has completed its debt restructuring plan with local lender Banca Carige, whose financial exposure to the Savona-based shipping company amounts to €76m ($82.2m).

Finbeta is controlled by the Bertani family and operates a fleet of six chemical parcel tankers deployed mainly in the Baltic and North Sea for the transport of petrochemicals, vegetable oils, specialized chemicals and acids.

The restructuring deal signed with Banca Carige obliges the Bertani family to transfer three real estate assets based in Savona to the company and also to issue equity financial instruments in favour of the bank.

According to the new 5-year business plan 1993-built chemical tanker Zircone has been put up for sale.
