Fincantieri selected to take over STX France

Italian yard Fincantieri has been designated the preferred bidder for STX France by a court in South Korea handling the restructuring of STX Offshore & Shipbuilding.

No price has yet been agreed however for the 66.6% stake in the cruise shipbuilder. Damen Shipyards and France’s DCNS had also expressed interest in taking over the French unit, but it has emerged Fincantieri was the only party to have lodged an official bid for the Saint-Nazaire yard.

The French state owns the remaining stake in the yard.
