Fines for oil spill following August’s tragic collision

 

Manila: The owners of the two ships involved in the worst maritime accident in the Philippines for the last five years have been fined P41m to pay in compensation to local villagers for the severe oil spill that hit coastal areas around Cebu.

The August 16 collision of the ferry 2GO’s St.Thomas Aquinas ferry and Philippine Asia Span Carrier Corp’s cargo ship Sulpicio Express Siete resulted in the deaths of 116 passengers.
