Fire at Kuwaiti refinery doused

Doha: Mohamed Mansour Al-Ajmi, a spokesman of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, said yesterday that a fire broke out at the port of Al-Ahmadi refinery which is owned by the government company. The fire has been controlled without causing disruption of production processes or shipping or exports.

Al-Ajmi said that the fire broke out at midnight on Monday in a sulphur warehouse and was in an area "outside the scope of operations and did not affect the functioning of the refinery at all, neither the shipping and export operations".

Ajami described the fire as "very simple, but the smoke was bigger than the fire". [17/07/13]
