Fire in Norwegian vessel at Aqaba

Cairo: The Stove Trader vessel moored in the port of Aqaba yesterday got hit by a fire which spread across its first hold but no casualties were reported.

Fire extinguishers in the Civil Defense Directorate of Aqaba and the fire department in the Ports Corporation rushed to the fire which lasted for more than eight hours.

The vessel was flying theNorwegian flag and had 20,000 tons of timber imported from Indonesia for the Jordanian market and it begun to unload its cargo at the port of on 18 July.  [24/07/13]
