Fire put out onboard Chinese ship off Fukuoka

Shanghai: A Cambodian-registered cargo ship owned by Chinese interests with nine crew members including seven Chinese on board, caught fire off the coast of the southwestern Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka on Friday morning, local press reported.
The fire broke out on the freighter "HAODA 6" at around 3:00 a.m. local time, China's Xinhua news agency quoted the country's public broadcaster Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK) as saying.
The Japanese coast guard dispatched vessels to put out the fire.

The ship was carrying 980 tons of scrap metal from Chiba to Ningbo.  [05/10/12]
