First ship-to-ship LNG transfer completed in Singapore waters

Singapore: A ship-to-ship transfer involving a cargo of LNG has been carried out in Singapore waters for the first time. The operation, supervised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, started last Friday and was successfully completed yesterday.

The ships involved – Al Gharrafa and Al Ghashamiya – belong to Qatar’s Nakilat, the former colliding with a Hanjin boxship at the end of December off Singapore, an accident that smashed the bow of the giant LNG ship. The Q-Flex LNG ship will now go for repairs.  [28/01/14]
