Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian transhipment hub built by Brazilian miner Vale has commenced operations a month earlier than planned.
The terminal at Teluk Rubiah is shipping its first cargo to the Asian market. Some 176,000 tonnes of iron ore have been loaded onto the Pantanal Ore ship. The cargo is part of the commissioning process and was already stored on the site.
At full capacity, the first phase of the terminal is expected to handle 30m tonnes of iron ore per year. [10/09/14]
