Dubai: He’s one of the best-known names in sales in the Middle East. ‘I didn’t notice how much lighter my wallet was until hours after he left,’ goes the regular refrain from those who have come into contact with Trevor Pereira, a top media sales person who has just branched out to do his own thing.
Following stints in Dubai with UK shipping titles Lloyd’s List and Seatrade, Pereira decided earlier this year to set up his own firm, Flagship Events. Among his first bits of business in his new role was to organise BIMCO’s recent awards show in Dubai.
The company is involved in exhibitions, conferences and awards shows for a variety of industries, not just maritime. Other sectors covered include banking, oil and gas and aviation.
“I’m drawing on 18 years experience in maritime media,” Pereira tells Maritime CEO.
A subsidiary, The Maritime Standard (TMS), has also just launched as a twice-monthly free shipping newsletter, the first issue of which was sent to 30,000 people. TMS will launch its own awards show in Dubai this November. [09/06/14]
