Flex LNG secures time charter contract for LNG carrier

John Fredriksen’s LNG carrier unit Flex LNG has announced that it entered into a time charter agreement for one of its vessels with an international energy company.

The time charter period is for a firm period of 12 months commencing end of first quarter with certain extension options.

“We are pleased to announce a prompt time-charter contract with a super major for one of our vessels. This contract provides full utilization with a first class charterer as well as exposure to the development of freight rates for large LNG carriers which we have a positive view on,” said Øystein Kalleklev, chief executive officer of Flex LNG.

Flex LNG currently owns three LNG carriers with another four newbuildings on the orderbook. It also took over five LNG carrier newbuilds under construction at South Korean yards from John Fredriksen’s Geveran Trading last year.
