Foremost Group adds newcastlemax pair at Waigaoqiao

New York-based bulker owner Foremost Group has signed shipbuilding contracts with CSSC-affiliated Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for the construction of two 210,000 dwt newcastlemax bulk carriers.

The vessels will go on long-term charter to French commodity trader Loius Dreyfus.

It is the third shipbuilding order Foremost Group has placed at Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding this year, following the company’s order of two 180,000 dwt capesize bulkers in June and a further two capesizes in September. Additionally, Foremost has also placed orders in August for two 85,000 dwt bulkers at Japan’s Oshima Shipbuilding.

Foremost Group currently operates a fleet of 18 bulkers.
