Foremost Group returns to Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for bulker pair

New York-based Foremost Group has signed shipbuilding contracts with CSSC-affiliated Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for the construction of two 180,000 dwt bulk carriers.

Details of the contract were not disclosed.

Foremost is a repeat customer of Waigaoqiao Shipbuiding, with the shipyard having delivered over 10 bulk carriers to Foremost Group since 2002.

Foremost Group is an international shipping, trading and finance company led by the shipping veteran James S.C. Chao, and currently operates a fleet 18 bulk carriers. Earlier this year, Chao’s daughter Elaine was confirmed as Secretary of Transportation.
