Former China Shipping Development boss gets six year prison sentence

Shanghai: Mao Shijia, former general manager of China Shipping Development, has been sentenced to prison for six years by Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People's Court.

Mao was arrested in November 2013 for the crime of taking advantage of duty.

Anti-corruption inspections by China's government have been enhanced since 2013, with several top names from state-owned firms arrested including officials from China’s largest shipping company Cosco. The third round of top-level disciplinary inspections started in November. [22/12/14]
