Former Cosco general manager joins Sinopec

China’s State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission (SASAC) has appointed Li Yunpeng, former general manager of Cosco Group, as vice general manager of energy giant Sinopec.

Li joined Cosco Group in 2004 and left his position in 2016 after the completion of the merger between Cosco Group and China Shipping Group.

Li is the second senior official from Cosco Group and China Shipping Group to have joined the energy firms after the merger. Xu Wenrong, former vice general manager of China Shipping Group, was appointed as vice general manager of China National Petroleum Coporation (CNPC) in January.
