Fred Olsen secures Siemens wind turbine installation contract

Fred Olsen Windcarrier has won a contract with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for the transport and installation of wind turbines for the Galloper Offshore Wind Farm, which is currently under construction offshore the United Kingdom.

The company’s jack-up vessel Bold Tern will mobilise in early September from the Port of Esbjerg, heading to site with a full deck of turbines before heading to the Port of Hull to continue operations. The vessel will be on contract for at least 30 days.

“This is a perfect demonstration of industry pulling together to advance a positive outcome for a project located on a site which is known to have some challenging characteristics,” said Martin Degen, commercial manager of Fred Olsen Windcarrier.

In June, Fred Olsen Windcarrier also secured a contract from Siemens Gamesa for transport and installation works at the Albatraos offshore wind farm.
