Freeport LNG seeks expansion approval

Freeport LNG Development (FLNG) has applied to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for permission to add a fourth liquefaction train at its liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility near Freeport, Texas.

With its formal application, (made through subsidiary FLNG Liquefaction 4), FLNG is seeking authorization to site, construct and operate a fourth train at the facility on Quintana island.

It would have nominal annual capacity of 5.1 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa).

The first three liquefaction trains at FLNG are under construction with expected completions in 2018 and 2019. If the fourth one is approved it should begin construction in 2018 with operations there anticipated to start by 2022.
