Gasfin Development orders LNG FRU at Jiangnan Shipyard

UK-based LNG infrastructure company Gasfin Development has signed a contract with China’s CSSC-affiliated Jiangnan Shipyard for the construction of a 28,000 cu m LNG FRU.

The FRU, which will be equipped with two 14,000 cu m type-C cargo tanks, will have a regasification capacity of 335 tons per hour. Other details of the contract was not disclosed.

Gasfin Development is expected to deploy the FRU at the Ghana’s Tema LNG project, which is being jointly developed by a consortium comprising Nigerian investment group Helios, Gazprom, Gasfin and Blystad.

The contract also marks Jiangnan Shipyard’s entry into the LNG FRU construction sector, and follows the shipyard securing a major contract for building two 79,800 cu m LNG carriers in August.
